The site is located on the most important and visible thoroughfare in Karachi; Shahrah-e-Faisal. To design an office building in two phases was a particular challenge. The CDC Building was designed in a way that the first phase looked like a complete project on its own, whereas the second phase was added a few years later.
The visually dominating massing was carved out, setting it apart from its surroundings. To further enhance its volumetric balance, fair-faced panels were used on the exterior surface. These were offset by large studied curtain-walls that gave the composition a magic that attracted even the fast moving observers. The interior spaces gained abundant natural light while framing the views of the urban landscape.
