Civil Hospital
ASA was entrusted with the restoration of one floor of the 126-year-old heritage-protected building at Civil Hospital, Karachi. The building was in a deteriorated state, with collapsing arches and significant structural issues. Our approach focused on structural retrofitting to conserve existing materials and enhance the building's lifespan while preserving its historical character.
The design aligned patient beds with window openings, utilizing natural light and ventilation, a key feature of the original architecture. The corridors were transformed to evoke an art gallery atmosphere, complemented by mosaic flooring reminiscent of a bygone era, challenging traditional notions of public healthcare spaces.
We are proud to have completed the first-floor restoration, now home to a state-of-the-art Endoscopy Facility, and remain committed to preserving heritage buildings across Pakistan.
