MCB Centre is located on a 32-kanal site, of which about 6-kanals were used for construction. Lahore, with its strong cultural heritage, combined with modernity, connectivity, fluidity and technology representative of the Data Centre, became the basis of inspiration for the design direction.
The Wedge shaped site served as a dictating force for the form and extended to all details. The front South facing Façade was kept primarily solid with openings punched in, to reduce heat gain. The solid surface was patterned and textured using fair-faced panels backed with heat insulation, fashioned and installed to achieve expanding and contracting shadows. Ventilated facade was installed on the curtain wall; where external views were paramount.
The MCB Building has the designed capacity to house two floors of Data Centre with all MEP equipment installed in the basement, in a structure separated from the main building to avoid transitions of vibration. Presently, it is housing regular offices and training areas on typical floors while housing the Bank Branch on the Ground Floor. The 8th floor conceived as a social gathering space, serves the collective functions of a state of the art cafeteria, prayer space and a double height multi-purpose hall designed to house seminars and training workshops.
